Adam McKay compares Hansel & Gretel to Evil Dead 2

Jared Pacheco writes:
MTV recently had a chance to speak with comedy director Adam McKay, who's serving as producer on HANSEL AND GRETEL along with Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell and Chris Henchy, and he actually had a lot to say about the project. Hell it's one of his favorites!

"It's got kind of like a steampunk vibe mixed with a little bit of a goth edge and hyper-cartoon violence like "Kick-Ass" and all set in a very specific world. It's not a comedy. Although, you could say "Kick-Ass" had some really funny stuff in it. It's a comedy in that sense. It's like a Sam Raimi-type horror movie, like "Evil Dead II," only a little nastier, a little more modern."

EVIL DEAD 2 huh? That's one hell of a comparison... Now in this schmuck's opinion, EVIL DEAD 2 is a damn near perfect horror movie. If you want to try and explain the horror genre to somebody, my suggestion is to show them EVIL DEAD 2. So with that being said... I'm finding it a bit unsettling that McKay is tossing that comparison around, seeing how I think it's damn near impossible to match ED2. But hey, on the upside it's awesome to hear that's the direction they're going in!
