Ash vs. Everyone: Bruce Campbell on why his character wins every pop culture throwdown

Aaron Sagers writes:

In these troubled times, people are pitting hero against hero and icon against icon. And while we can't say for certain who wins in a battle of brawn or brains between Captain America or Iron Man, Batman or Superman, we do hold one truth to be self-evident: Bruce Campbell's Ash Williams could kick all their asses.

Although he has thus far abstained from engaging in these super-schoolyard scraps, there is no doubt in my mind that the groovy one's alter ego would emerge the victor in each. But how, exactly? From Superman to Captain Kirk and Daryl Dixon, as the grand finale of our themed month of "Vs." content, Bruce took a break from filming the second season of Starz' Ash vs. Evil Dead to provide a little intel as to why he'll always be hailed as the king.

First Look: Ash vs. Evil Dead Throws a Killer Kegger (PHOTO)

Get your Ash in gear and grab a beer!

In Season 2 of Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead (premiering this fall) our hero (Bruce Campbell) is living it up in Florida now that he’s done with the deadites of last year.

“When you have a chain-saw hand, this is how you tap a keg,” executive producer Craig DiGregorio jokes, adding that Ash is in for a real buzzkill. “Unfortunately for Ash, the party is cut short when he must return home to continue the fight against evil.”

Waxwork Introduces “Fan Designed Packaging Poll” for Evil Dead 2 OST

Okay, this is pretty fun. Waxwork has been teasing their Evil Dead 2 release for some time now and it looks as though they’ll be going about this release like no other soundtrack label has done yet — with “Fan Designed Packaging” featuring artwork from the design outfit Phantom City Creative. PCC are no strangers to vinyl soundtrack artwork, having most recently worked on the massive Batman the Animated Series Vinyl Box Set Mondo put out a few months back.

Waxwork Records is excited to launch our very first fan designed soundtrack poll. What this means is that you get to vote on various concepts for the front album cover, inner gatefold, and back cover art of the LP jacket for our upcoming soundtrack release of the 1987 horror classic, EVIL DEAD 2.”

So not only are they letting fans get an even better look at the making of one of their soundtracks, but fans are actually getting to contribute to how the final product will turn out. You can go to the site right now to check out their full writeup, see all the designs, and vote!

Ash vs. Evil Dead – A Gang of Evil Dead by Ted Raimi

Just when I thought I was OUT, they pull me back IN!

This whole trial is outta order!

Wait, not the first part, or… just the first part and not the second.

I’m not Michael Corleone, but I am in a gang that keeps calling me back.

It’s the Evil Dead gang. That sounds like something that belongs with the Dead Rabbits and the Pug Uglies. It’s neither – we don’t live in New York in the 1850s – we’re from Detroit, we bathe and we don’t really kill people. But we do pretend to kill people – all the time.

When Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell decided to reanimate the Evil Dead franchise for Starz, I was thrilled for them. Those three have had a great chunk of deserved success after the original picture was released: successful movies and television shows, books – even Oscar nominations. Their talent is immense and undeniable.
