Regan Hall scores directing role on Ash vs Evil Dead

Directors & Editors Guild of NZ (DEGNZ) member and director Regan Hall has directed one episode in Season 3 of STARZ Network’s Ash vs Evil Dead (AVED) television series following his attachment to the series in 2015.

“I was excited to helm an episode of this fantastic cult franchise, which included shooting an epic fight scene, a gruesome demon, and loads of witty one-liners. Rob Tapert and his team have been very supportive, and I thank STARZ, the NZFC, and the DEGNZ for the foot in the door,” said Hall.

Bruce Campbell releases a full chapter from his book

Jeremy Dick writes:

Bruce Campbell is putting out another autobiography soon, and he’s just taken to the web to release a full chapter for you to preview the book!

The always hilarious Bruce Campbell has written another book. His previous autobiography, “If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor”, was one of the best reads of my life. So this sequel, “Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor” is certainly a must read.

Sam Raimi, Director of ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Evil Dead’ Trilogies, Talks Storytelling with Northwestern Students

“Why not have a guy who made The Evil Dead for $350,000 do Spider-Man?” Bruce Campbell wondered jokingly from the the set of Spider Man 2.

This memory was one of many that director Sam Raimi shared with Northwestern students during a talk at Harris Hall on May 2. Raimi’s eclectic career has seen him directing small-budget cult hits like The Evil Dead to huge comic book blockbusters like the original Spider-Man trilogy.

Bruce Campbell Finally Settled the ‘Evil Dead 2’ “Sequel or Remake?” Debate

Yes, this is a thing horror fans have been hotly debating for years.

Is 1987’s Evil Dead 2 a sequel to Evil Dead, or is it actually a remake in disguise? Of course, the number “2” in the title would suggest that it’s a clear cut sequel, but why then does Ash Williams return to the cabin in the woods and go through the same motions he went through in the first film? It’s because of this that many fans view the film as Sam Raimi’s remake of his own movie.

So what’s the real answer to the question posed in the headline of this article? It totally slipped past us when it hit YouTube late last year, but Bruce Campbell definitively answered that question in a video chat with Bay at the Moon Productions back in November. During the interview, Campbell provided an in-depth explanation of this whole mess, which video clips were added to.

Long story short, Evil Dead 2 is a sequel. Well actually, in Campbell’s own words, it’s a “requel.” Trust me, his explanation is way less confusing than it sounds. Check it out below.

The Unofficial ‘Evil Dead’ Sequels You Never Knew About

Zachary Paul writes:

Italian horror films of the 70’s and 80’s are possibly my favorite thing ever. I can sit through some of the most wretched, poorly dubbed trash for 90-minute chunks of time with an undeterred smile on my face. Occasionally, I do stumble upon a film or two that genuinely tests my patience (we’ll touch on one such film in a bit). However, for the most part, the Italians hold the key to my heart. You might be wondering what any of this has to do with The Evil Dead. After all, Sam Raimi’s 1981 genre-redefining masterwork was a fully independent American production. True. We must take a look at the film’s various foreign releases for a clue as to where all of this is headed.
